We talk about it of course but would never tell eachother how to spend our money.

If we make a big purchase such as a new TV or something, we'll talk about it and discuss it in terms of whether its a good purchase and good value for money. If its something we both really want, we'l go halves.

TBH I dont think its very fair if your other half says you can have something on the condition that they get something in return
Its wasnt meant as a 'buy me something or you dont get your bike' type of deal, it was light hearted.
Also as i have a concsience, it eases mine if i see my wife with something nice as im riding a brand new bike.
She works full time as well as doing most of the chores and has just finished her degree at the age of 34.
So, i think she deserves it as well and if you put it in a way so it works to your advantage, even better.
If your married, its a different deal if your just going out as you generally share more financial things.
My wife and i dont pool our money, she buys what she wants and vice versa, but as the bike was coming out of our joint savings then its only fair that a little was spent on her as well.

I've been really lucky. Mr Beanie79 is not into bikes, and too be honest isn't thatkeen on me riding them either (other nutters on the road etc) but that said, when he realised how much it meant to me, not only did he say go for it, but he stumped half the cash for it as my birthday present. What a top hubbie!

Took 15 years and the congestion charge to get a bike back after I got married, New bike fund has just been used to build a new outhouse and the new bathroom is the next project. But If she wants a new car soon a new bike is part of the deal

Bicester Village is evil

Mrs Toad has spent enough on handbags in that place to get me a very nice Ducati, and leave some change

i'd rather have louboutins than choos to be honest but gotta say if its my money i spend it how i want and vice versa for falc. i had the chance for expensive shoes not long ago but spent it on furniture instead. at the min i can't walk in flats let alone heels so it would've been torture not being able to wear them.

We have an agreement - I don't ask how much he's spent, and he doesn't ask how much I've spent. Simples We both put money into the joint account for bills etc at the start of the month then the rest we can spend on whatever we want

Your right, the weird thing was i didnt feel relieved, i almost wanted her to find some so i could deal with the damage, its better to know.
Kinda like if the school bully says hes gonna beat you up but dont give you a time, so its on your mind then making it worse.
