hiya,

I'm a newbie, who has changed to LED indicators and have a high flash rate.

I have bought the Motrax flash it relay, but a bit confused how to fit (

On the relay itself I can see 7 wires going in.

One is brown and there are three light blue (two with colour specs on them), only one really light blue though. Is this the one??

Once I pull out the correct two wires, do i connect the SSR connectors directly to the wires I have just removed - Light Blue to Black and Brown to red.

or I do insert the wires back into the original relay where the original wires were.. ie leaving the original two wires just hanging loose.

Also can i do any damage by getting it wrong!!!

Thanks

There are two wires that go to the indicator relay, the others go to the starter lockout relay.
You don't say what bike you've got, (click me), and we need to know 'cos the wiring colours are different on different models.

Yes.

Right I've just had another squint at the wiring diagram, I don't have a specific K5 diagram here at the mo, but if the colours are the same as the one I have got, (and I'm fairly sure they are), there are, as you say, seven wires all tolled in the block, they are; blue/black, blue, green, orange/yellow, orange/black, brown, light blue.
The brown is the live supply to the flasher - to the red wire on the new relay, the light blue is the connection to the switch, (the load), and goes to the black wire on the relay.

Thanks sid,

Just connected it all up and the indicators are flashing at normal rate... although I was getting use to them going fast..

Had trouble pulling out the brown and light blue wires though. so just cut the wires an inch or two above the relay and put a couple of connectors on them and the SSD to connect them together.. thought this was a good idea, just in case i got the wrong wires and needed to connect them back to the original relay.

Next on the list is a rear hugger.. think I'm gonna go for Pyramid one, which although more expensive seems to look better than the Powerbronze one which is only £65. It looks really ugly on the powerbronze website for my K5. Practically covers the whole quarter of the wheel - not just the top where the tyre is like most others I've seen. not sure if its just a bad picture.. but theres 3 pics and they all look horrible.

Yes, they can be fiddly. You need to depress the tang that holds the terminal in the block with a pin or perhaps a thin screwdriver, you can get specific tools for doing this and of course this makes the job a lot easier, but they're relatively expensive and rather fragile, so I made three different types of my own, two are made from old worn screwdrivers ground down, and one is a carefully filed piece of heavy wire with a bit of wood for a handle.

I'll bear that in mind in future!! But job done anyway by just cutting the wires and fitting connectors!!!

I was reading before your comment on other threads, that can use a pair of tweezers to get it out.. but that wasn't given me any joy... far too big to get anywhere near the tang - or whatever its called... for anyone else whose trying!!

Worked perfectly for me on my '04 pointy.. Thanks guys!
