What for standing up to a bully and getting my teeth smacked in? Hardly heroic is it?
Bet that stuck up git Batman would never admit to such a thing but hey i'm only human and i sure as hell aint the hardest guy on the block. Oh and he did have lots of rings on his fingers too. Lesson learnt....if you're gonna offer a guy to hit you a; quickly check his fingers for rings b; duck c; even if he aint wearing rings...duck. ![]()

Been there done that, older and wiser now.
![]() FWIW I cant see that you did anything wrong given the situation your mate got you in.The trick is to avoid letting it happen by sorting your mate out before he gets out of order with an army of thugs. ![]()

I've been in a situation where I had to pull an idiot of a mate away from what had the potential to turn really bad. I was just lucky that the group of blokes, for some reason listened to me as I told him what a 'so and so' he was and dragged him off. Funnily enough, I stopped going out with said mate...and told him to sod off... after he had a few too many another time and did a similar thing. My idea of a good night out doesn't involve fighting and can't stand people who have a drink and become stupid. Cheers Ben |

![]() All the scraps i have had in my adult life have been as a result of someone else, except when playing sunday football when i used to lose my fooking mind for some reason. I avoid trouble generally because there is always someone more talented, aggressive, voilent etc who will always go too far and could be end more serious than a cut lip or whatever. Thulfi, i'm on your side here dude, you helped your mate when he needed it unconditionally, that takes balls. You have had words with your mate about it, that should be the end of it. Phil |

I saw a bloke being beaten up last week .. there were 4 of them and one of him.. so I went over to help..
between the 5 of us we really kicked his head in.. a joke- but fightin is not funny.. defending your mate is honourable.. but .. well.. me old now so I try and walk away , shouting "he's not worth it - he'snot worth it" |

Yeh, i'd rather have her than have me too. Eh, wait?!??!? Does that even make any sense?

As someone still struggling to breath properly after being attacked in a boozer, I have to say I am not impressed by those who throw that first unwarranted punch. I used to think I could handle myself well enough until I found out that some people fight dirty. I then remembered the old adage of do unto others as they would do unto you. But do it first. My mistake in remembering far too late.
There is nothing big or clever about pub fighting. It is bloody dangerous. I am waiting to go to court to give evidence against the guy who attacked me. My brother is currently bailed for GBH after landing on top of the guy who tried to pull him down a flight of stairs in a boozer. We were both victims of pub violence fortunately in my case the guy who hit me was arrested, in my brothers case they guys who attacked him are giving evidence against him. There are no winners in pub scraps. I have learned one valuable lesson. When trouble breaks out, leave by the back door.
