I can understand what you mean but if you end up giving the guy enough rope to hang himself and that results in further charges then it would be frowned upon.

In this case, the cops have spoken to the owner of the damaged vehicle (Dave) and also observed the damage, found out that there is a witness to Welshys vehicle being the offending vehicle and observed consistant crash damage to his vehicle -that is more than enough evidence to require the reg'd keeper, ie Welshy, under terms of S172 RTA 1988 to provide details of who was driving the vehicle at the material time. As such, we would be expected to do so.

Because it's not fair to him, you are basically tripping him up.

The point I made earlier! Anything he said would be inadmissable so whats the point of not doing it official from the off?

Aha, I understand now. Some would consider he'd got what he deserved, but it's nice to know the police believe in fair play.

Carternd - Just so you know....you'll be making MBK squirm every time she sees one of your posts as she finds it hard to even look at a picture of a spider....let alone such a colourful one...lol.

Well, Dan got paperwork from Daves insurers today, so all sorted or getting there at least.

Mods....this thread can be locked now, it's served its purpose.

Thanks again guys xxx

Soz, I have actually been meaning to change it. I didn't like the pic of me I had before because I looked fat, so I swapped it for a Hawaiian Happy-face Spider. It will be removed!
