Agreed, we had one for a while, was a fantastic little car. Was great to drive and comfy to.

A lot of good info there guys thanks.

Bellerophron, my dad has had three L200's now, HATE driving them with a passion, it's like a boat!!! I've driven other 4x4's and they are much better to drive IMHO.

I've had all sorts of motors as company cars and my own, but without a doubt the most reliable of the lot was a pikey spec 2003 Golf diesel company car I had. I abused it horribly for three years and 150,000 miles and the thing never cost anything on top of normal service items - it just refused to break down or die on me, despite me trying very very hard to kill it. When I handed it back to the firm on leaving it was still immaculate inside and out, and nothing rattled or squeaked anywhere.

I love my 2001 BMW 3 series, but given a choice of a recent BMW 1 series or Golf, I'd go for the Golf every day of the week.

I've run two Golfs and one 1-Series. I had a 2005 130i SE, a Mk4 Golf Diesel.

The golfs were very competent, cheap to run, and a generally good car. That's about all i can say about it because it just did not have the soul or character the 130i did.

I was like a pocket rocket, 265bhp in a rear wheel drive and light car? Yes please. I got rid of the run-flat tyres which transformed it as well. It was very fast, comfortable for me, though probably would struggle with lots of passengers. I never had any reliability issues, service intervals were long (about 18k compared to 10k standard intervals on the golf) and cheap to do when they did come up. It did 25-30mpg and was the most fun car I have ever had. Quite a drivers car though, meaty (heavy) steering, clutch and gearbox.

I also ran it all through last years Borders snows without getting stuck. Just takes a bit of planning about parking (usually aim to leave it facing downhill or on the flat) or park it slightly further away and walk the last 200metres to the house and stop being lazy! :P

I ran it for 18 months, put 20k+ miles on it, and sold it for £800 less than I bought it for.

I would go out and buy one again in an instant.

My sister had an L200, the proper shape (2003), not the newer (2006+) hairdresser shape. I loved it, turning circle of the QE2, but I liked it (not as much as me Disco though)

Nah L200's don't like them. Sat in a couple that were worse built than a French car

Strechie the disco must have a larger turning circle than a supertanker.
