Idle Banter For non SV and non bike related chat (and the odd bit of humour - but if any post isn't suitable it'll get deleted real quick).![]() |

I take on board all of your comments. Balls bigger than brains in some instances.
I am not new to the interweb, nor my first forum. I would like to consider myself seasoned in both. As an example if someone posts "I have just brought a ABCD piece of kit" the reply to some people is "That is **** and useless". Maybe a description of a bad experience with that kit would be better. I do agree that you can't read tones but sometime you don't have to. I don't mind someone taking the p1$$ as long as there is something constructive in it. |

There is always a degree of leg pulling on here and it is for this reason that I love this forum, also some of the opinions stated are very strong and that can lead to really interesting debates.
The thing to remember though is that it is often just opinion and not fact. Saying that, I have leaned loads just from reading the technical stuff here and have even been able to contribute a little to the knowledge base that is here. Sorry to hear that some of the posts here have caused you some consternation, luckily this is one of the nicer places to come to play on the internet. There are much more volatile places I visit, so think yourself lucky that it is not B3ta for example, they can be really nasty but only do it for the nerdgasm! ![]() |

Its not just you.
I look at it this way. In my travels through life outside of the internet I come across people who Annoy me Irritate me Who are idiots Who dont listen Who think they are right all the time So its not surprise that in cyberland I occasionally come across people who exhibt the same character traits. the difference is in real life. I'll walk away, raise an eyebrow and then I disassociate myself from those people I keep out of there way. I dont drink in the same pub as them etc etc. What happens on a forum is that doesnt happen. Instead of ignoring said person some people will have a pop back or start an argument or they'll get wound up about something and it escalates into a bigger thing. There are lots of people with strong opinions, there are lots of people who will state their opinion as fact. Theres nothing wrong with that, somebodies opinion cannot be wrong, it is their opinion. I think some disagreement or debate is healthy, I'd not want to stifle that, and end up with a happy friendly forum where everybody loves each other all of the time. Some of the best / most interesting threads come about from heated discussion / debate. But yes posting stupid comments in order to provoke an argument isnt the best of ways to go about things, but if you know that is the intention of the poster who is maknig the stupid comments, then help yourselves and dont rise to it. Theres an ignore function that you can use that will hide the posts of the people on your ignore list. If somebodies irritating you use it. Of course its entirely possible for somebody to stick within the rules of the forum and still irritate the hell out of you. Of course the moderator team willl look into any situation / scenario and take appropriate action, but I'm not going to start banning people or restricting their access purely for posting an opinion that you or somebody else doesnt agree with. Of course if you pick an internet fight with somebody be prepared to take it back as well as give it out. Its an interesting time of year, January is always a flat month, the weathers rubbish, people are skint after christmas so arent getting out on the bike much etc etc which leads to frustration which can spill out onto the forum to. I'd like to think that as a team we run a good ship, but at the end of the day theres always that little cross in the top right hand corner. Sometimes its good to take a break / get some perspective on things or a particular situation.
