I think the problem with the horn gettting too hot is the body itself having trouble working, rather than the electrical contacts being loose. So this would be unlikely to fix the problem if it is what it appears to be.

wd40 - that will solve the problem. 90% certain the problem will lie with dirt on the contact on the horn. take the connector apart, sand paper the horn connector to get the dirt off lightly. wd40 the horn contacts ALOT and assemble the connector.

My bike had the same problem and I did the above and it worked fine afterwards.

As said, the primary cause of this is heat. (Ceri JC, did you do a search before posting? :lol)

To solve it, either move the horn somewhere else, and/or replace the horn.

Tin foil/WD40 may delay the issue happening, but it will almost certainly come back - and probably at the worst moment!!

My experience with a dodgy horn involved stripping down the left hand cluster switch area to get to the horn contacts. Cleaned these up with some light abrasive (a bit of fine wet n dry will do - use it dry!). Then mine worked fine afterwards.

On a seperate note beware of spraying WD40 on electrical contact areas - it's an insulator. Ardrox or similar (such as trichoethylene) is ideal for cleaning/degreasing electrical stuff.

My pointy s-K3 has just started doing this - think i'll bend the bracket away from the radiator to start with, if that fails, I'll get a replacement. i tried sandpapering the horn contacts, no effect.

My horn did this too, as soon as it got warm, it stopped working.

The simple fix though is to relocate it away from the radiator, my horn is now fitted to my right hand fork leg and stays cool. It does however look like a carbuncle, which is not so nice. To do this modification, I had to extend the wiring a little, but this was easy to do.

There is an adjustment screw on the horn. Try winding this in up to a few turns, this sets the contact gap distance.

Mine too, solved by relocating to a cooler spot. Interestingly this seems to be a Suzuki problem - my GSXR has the same issues.
