Watching tractors plough the fields with all the birds following behind to get all the worms and bugs. I could watch for hours.

being poor
catching money thrown out a window to go to the shops glass cheques cardboard slides frost on the inside of the windows running from the police getting caught and slapped about belt/lines at school people wearing stupid clothes mucking about with my mates never going on holiday to another country (still haven't) and hating going back to school for the 'what did you do in your holidays' essay. super saturday show |

Playing a 33rpm record at 45 or even 78 rpm - sounded like a chipmunk on acid breathing in helium.
Taking glass bottles (ginger where I grew up Scotland - pop for the Engerlanders) back to the shop to get money back & spending it on a ha-penny chew. Playing ding-dong skoosh (ringing doorbells & running away). Using a clothes peg & some playing cards to rattle against your bike wheel spokes to make that awesome "motorbike" sound. Dynamo bike lights that made any pedalling nigh on impossible & went out as soon as you stopped. Stacking the record player speakers around a tape recorder to record your favourite records & then telling everyone else in the house to be quiet so that it wouldn't ruin your recording. £1.00 POUND NOTES!!!!!!!!!! Wagon wheels...
1st pair of trainers bought from a jumble sale (25p) 3 sizes bigger than my feet for the school sports day. My mother told me I would run faster in them and I believed her... after a week the fronts curled up.. looked a right d!ck. |
