Took the RIB from Lowestoft to Southwold with the family, had lunch, high speed return journey, then on to in-laws for a rib-of-beef roast. Doesn't get much better than that especially as we got buzzed by a wwII fighter (can't remember exactly what though) several times on the way down, and rescued a jet-ski who's battery had died, on the way home. The children loved it.

Cool, wasn't the spitfire was it? Usually flies off the coast on the summer weekends near me

Not the Spitfire, it had square wing tips and a long canopy like a mustang or Jap zero but can't remember enough detail to be sure. Sounded great going right over our heads!

There's a Russian Yak that I see sometimes, that flies out of an airfield in Essex. That's got got a big radial engine and a canopy like you describe.

I put on a big hair wig and went to Essex.
Several people took some pics and I saw some helicopters and loads of polis. No idea why.

I went to Notting Hill Carnival. Was pretty terrible. Just bareback lorries loaded with speakers, some amateur DJ playing excrutiatingly loud Carribean music you've never heard of, with some Afro/Carribean Society all wearing the same T-shirts walking behind the lorries, which tend to not follow the given carnival route or any structure. It was like Wack-a-Mole with lorries popping out of random streets. Food was expensive and not great (a lot of it was random Londoners serving mystery meat through their front doors). Saw very few nice costumes and no impressive floats.

People of their culture also have very intersting dances. Think of a woman, legs straight buy bent over, hands on the floor, shaking her bottom quickly whilst a man rubs his bishop against her, infront of hundreds of "interested"/laughing people. I saw lots of children, no older than 13 doing this too. It was interesting for me because it's the kind of thing I'd do as a joke if I was really drunk, but I know from friends and the looks on all the dancers' faces that they were completely serious about how they were grinding. Take from it what you will.

I also had my break-in service so could give a tiny bit more welly to my XJR, which is nice.

Could well have been Mav. Will have to keep an eye out for it next time. The previous time we were out a Hercules came over from the sea and headed in land, very low.
