When my rotor broke, It wouldn't register the speed and the mileage stopped increasing as I continued to ride it for a week. Tacho still worked.

thanks, but the tacho isnt working either, hence my thought it was electrical, when im back from europe i will delve into it more,

Tacho is a pulse from front cylinder if I remember correctly, sometimes a loose battery connection can cause the issues you have.
