Local Knowledge
I'm looking for somewhere to wild camp in D&G next year for me and a couple of mates (yes I do have riding friends apart from you lot {who I love dearly of coarse}). Was thinking of the Leadhills Road where the Gold panners camp the B797. This would give us easy use of the Queensway, Dalvine Pass, Loch Ken etc. It will be bikes only, no "support" vehicles, One of the lads does have a very nice camper van but unfortunately realises we'd use it for bog and burgers. If you lot fancy doing it later in the year or the following year I'm up for that. Thanks in advance for your help AND hopefully the mighty org can do it as well.

Re: Local Knowledge
if it aint fenced then its fair game.. if it aint a layby or car park then its fair game.

Re: Local Knowledge
Yeah, leadhills is the best option. Gets very busy on a Friday & Saturday, weegie yobs come down and party.
I've also stopped at Talla reservoir, big long carpark / slope. Thats a nice quiet location, but the midges can be hell in summer, but the same applies anywhere in summer. Go there and hope for a bit of wind to keep the buggers away. If you are doing it, give us a shout. Might be up for a camp, but definitely up for a ride around.

Re: Local Knowledge
As soon as I know what's happening I'll let you know. Did you not get shoo'ed off the slope?.

Re: Local Knowledge
The more I remember about that road, the more I like that idea.
