2000 Curvy suspension refresh
Hi
I am planning to refresh the suspension on my SV650 Curvy over the winter. Who are the suggested retailers for the ktech for springs which appear recommended? I weigh roughly 82kg so suggestion on spring rate and oil thickness welcome. I also saw a chart some time ago indicating alternative rear shocks that fit the SV650, rather than keeping stock. Has anyone got this to hand and have any recommendations? Thanks, |

Ebay is a good place to start. 10 or 15 weight depending on your weight riding style. ZX6/10 shock is common for Gen2 because the shocks are the same length. 330mm. I believe Gen 1 had a longer shock. 345mm or so but you could always lower the front to match the rear.

Re: 2000 Curvy suspension refresh
I have purchased springs directly from k-tech. Try their "store" on the website, or there are stockists shown. Give them a ring to confirm what you need.
https://www.ktechsuspension.com/ I am about 12st or 76kg and have 0.85kg/mm (8.5N/mm) springs which are comfy, you might feel 0.9kg/mm would suit you better. Similarly I use Fuchs/Silkolene Maintain RSF 7.5W which is comfy, for a stiffer spring and more weight you might prefer the 10W. The RSF 7.5W is pretty much the same viscosity as many commercial 10W oils at 35cSt here http://peterverdone.com/wiki/?title=Suspension_Fluid (it used to be called Silkolene PRO RSF, now called "Maintain" RSF, I usually use https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/mot...ontent_cat/809 )

Hi,
Just coming back to this, for the rear suspension what options are there for the first generation SV650? Thanks, |

For the rear suspension, you have three or four choices, a slab of Victoria sponge, plasticine, foam rubber, or the spring from a parker pen. Each one has it's own merits and are a good cheap alternative but all are a vast improvement over the oem shock ! |

If looking for something cheaper , you'd have to do a bit of searching for conversions. Think the kwak zx6r and some gsxr shocks were popular.
