replacement keys
I was wondering if anyone knew if the keys are encoded in anyway, i basically bent one a little when i left it in the side of the bike when going under the seat and pulling bike into garage

I bought a blank for my old SK6 - they are not encoded.

sv650 , 2020 model, it dont look big as if it has anything, but dont want to make any assumptions. Whilst i have bent it back an it seems to work, i just think its best i bite the bullet and get another good spare made. Last time i bought a blank for my honda it was nightmare trying to find a cutter who would do it, then it was with the risk of if it dont work not their problem...

I really doubt it has an encoder in - it's not like the Honda HISS system.

The Honda HISS chip is in the key head, and as long as the old one is on the key ring alongside a new "dumb" key when you put it in the ignition it will still detect the HISS chip, so if you break a HISS key you can get by with just a plain key if you wish. Just an option.
