Default lever guard suggestions

Does anyone have any recommendations for lever guards on Renthal low bars? You need them now on track days. I don't want to spend much money as they will only get used once or twice a year, if ever again, but i also don't want them to be cheap and useless

I've seen different types, some that are weighted like bar ends and some that aren't. The new bars are going on the bike on Tuesday so i don't know if i need them weighted yet. I'll only be on track in 20 minute sessions, and i ride like i'm commuting to work anyway so i don't see it being an issue either way

Aren't the racing lever guards just fitted to end of bars to stop levers being knocked and not like handguards.. IIRC they stop front brake lever getting knocked if you get too close to another bike, which has caused a few nasty crashes.

With an upcoming track day, I've just bought, and this afternoon tried to fit, the Acerbis version.

The fit is really poor - the expanding metal bit hasn't got enough grip inside the bar to prevent it from rotating with the slightest effort, and there's no support at the outboard end to stop it moving around. I'm doubtful it will pass scrutineering, so now looking for an alternative.

Wrap the expanding metal section in a few wraps of self amalgamating tape to fill out the gap and give it some purchase inside the bar.

I saw on a youtube search for bar end weights that someone used oem weights on renthal bars using 10mm rawl plugs from b and q. Think it was Delboys Garage. They might work if you can match up the screw to the thread in the rawl plug. Let me know how you get on. Adam F's suggestion would be easier

I'm still looking. I don't think i'd get away with hand guards RiffRaff. Although they would serve the same purpose. I have just emailed them to ask if standard hand guards are sufficient or if i need to buy ones made for purpose so i will let you guys know what they say. Standard hand guards would be better because i can put them on and off for touring if i ever get around to doing it.

Cheers. I'm thinking that might be tricky to remove (the tape) if needed at a later date, but has given me some ideas.

How about wrapping emery cloth around the expanding bit, that will grip inside the handlebars.

Trouble is with some of those expanding gizmos is that only the very end where the wedge is expands
and only gets a point contact inside the handlebar. ( the angle of the wedge is too steep and the slots
not long enough. Try a bit of lube on just the wedge faces, may make it easier to tighten and give
more gripping force.
