Chain roller
I noticed yesterday that the GSX has a chain roller on the lower chain run. It's made of a hard rubber and spins quite freely but doesn't move vertically, the chain does run over the top of the roller. At rest the chain contacts the roller but I'm not sure it would when the chain is under load. It's situated close to the swing arm pivot and the usual rubber chain buffer is fitted to protect the swing arm.
It seems to be the same chain as the DL650 going by the part number so it's not unusually long. Maybe to stop a loose chain hitting the engine cover? I only had a cursory look since I was doing something else, I'll have a closer look when I next ride.

Re: Chain roller
Interesting, I suppose it depends on the position of the gearbox sprocket relative to the swingarm pivot point.
