Default Pirelli Angel GT II

After the Bridgestone S20 rear lasted about 3400 miles on my XSR900, I started to look for a pair of replacement tyres. I don’t ride in the wet, only commute occasionally and usually do 3000 to 4000 miles a year between spring and autumn mainly on country roads and B roads. Don’t think I’m capable of exploiting sticky or sporty tires to their full potential. I’d prefer something that will last me a couple of years – or even more.
These Pirellis have come out under the radar and without any big press announcements or tests/reviews. There’s very little about them online apart from a promo video and a few reviews on Revzilla. Price wise, pairs are within a tenner of the Road 5s, Conti Roadattack 3s, Sportsmart 3s, Metzeler 01s etc but Pirelli have a £30 cashback offer for having a pair fitted so I went for these.
I’ve done 100 miles or so on them now and first impressions are positive. Lots of tread, plenty of grip and no scary moments. The tyre body is fairly stiff but gives a comfortable ride and they steer easily into bends with no sudden drop in. The rear seems to warm up pretty quickly. They feel more planted on the road and don’t track tar bands or cracks in the road surface like the Bridgestones did. One thing I did notice when overtaking or lane changing was that they felt a bit skittish on the white lines. I’m hoping this is down to newness rather than it being a long-term trait, otherwise filtering isn’t going to be much fun.

Just over 6000 miles on these now. No noticeable drop in performance and still gripping well.
Very happy with these overall. I should get another season at least out of them.

I've been using the Pirelli Angel ST and I really like the grip and handling characteristics of them, but I don't get any more than 5000 out of a rear tyre.

The rear is dead at just under 8000 miles. I went for the same again to get the bike through its MOT. Still plenty of tread left in the front.

I've just fitted a pair of these tyres, and so far am very impressed with them. The handle just like the Angel STs, have excellent grip on damp roads, and feel confidence inspiring in fast corners.

I'll report back on longevity in a couple of thousand miles time.

I must say I'm very impressed with these tyres. They have all the handling characteristics I liked with the STs and they seem to be wearing much better, especially given that a lot of my riding currently is with a pillion. I'm hopeful of a much longer tyre life than the STs.
