I seem to recall a time before the mid eighties when dental treatment was free on the NHS. Wonder who it was who put a stop to that?

Dentistry seems to have died by a thousand cuts in the NHS, so I guess successive governments are to blame. The last 15 years certainly put the final nails in the coffin. There are NHS dentists but they are at capacity and have long waiting lists. The dentist I used were an NHS practice but closed their list about 10 years ago to new NHS patients. 3 years ago they 'fired' the NHS patients and are a private practice now.

I really feel for those not able to pay for treatment as they have a terrible time finding a dentist. My step-son managed to get taken on by a practice in Queensferry due to the fact they have a 2-year old child so there was an NHS 'family deal'. Dentistry really should be available on the NHS.

Doctors not much better! Had an appointment Wed PM to discuss my low blood pressure. When I got there new Doctor said its on the highside! Different Dr Of course , no continuity. Took 12 days in May to get a Drs appointment to discuss a peculiar feeling in my leg/foot. (after tele consultation and being sent to two different physios. Now waiting for the DVLA to decide whether I am fit enough to be let loose on the road again. Not a happy bunny.

My best M8 passed away over 18 months ago. Part of his troubles were high blood pressure. Since then I've taken mine and other things more seriously coz of age ( 67). I bought one of these,

I don't use it often as I get regular checks when they are at local Supermarkets so this may be useful to you,

I'm going for a free Cholesterol and Blood pressure test on Monday with Future Health. I usually go once a year. I've also had free CT scans with them and a heart check etc

Thanks for the info R1ff. I will look a Future Health in some detail, I have been fighting HBP for over 10 years and do have a monitor, (on a pile of pills now! ) I never did get round to balancing the SV carbs will do so if the DVLA gives me the ok. I probably only averaged 500 miles a year on the SV (beat you Ruffy) but they were precious miles and I miss riding the bike alot. Funnily enough I did start Suuzy yesterday and rode her around the drive (I have lost the peripheral vision on my left side thats the stumbling block. Its hard and frustrating not being mobile. I have even been pressurised not to ride my push bike ! but they can Harry with that, just need it to stop raining long enough so I can catch up with the garden. This forum has just about kept me sane, something to look forward to each day so thanks one and all.
