Default A spot of winter prep....

Looking at the weather forecast for this week makes me think a little bit of preppping the bike for winter may be on the cards. I think mostly it's going to involve a good clean (although it is pretty clean at the moment), and a thorough coating of ACF50. The bike is likely to be used through the winter as long as conditions allow, but at least the ACF50 will keep the worst of the crud out.

Just need a dry day to do the job now.

I usually SORN my bike at the end of November, this usually coincides with road gritting. I did think I might let it slip until December this year as we haven't had any gritting weather but given the forecast I might stick to my usual plan.

I think we've been lucky the roads haven't been gritted yet, in recent years I recall the gritters being out before the end of October.

Mine's still pretty clean, I've given the chrome and vulnerable bits a wipe over with ACF already.

Looks like we're also in for some freezing weather this week. On the drive home from my parent's house in Norfolk this morning I spotted at least three gritters heading into roadside depots so I think we're finally in for the first spreading of the season, probably tomorrow, once the forecasted rain finishes.

Might wipe a bit more ACF50 onto Bullseye but he's had a good coating already so should be good.

I've been using ACF50 for around 20 years. I used to work on Aircraft so we knew about it's fantastic anti-corrosion properties. I sometimes could get some free from a ,"Stores" guy <grin>

PS
Ii also prevents synthetic rubber coolant pipes from drying and out and decaying and prevents corrosion on/in electrical block connectors/Bus-bars etc.

Every Spring I remove my seats and rear cowling and check and clean every electrical connector and treat them with ACF50 and a thin smear of dielectric grease on the outside to prevent moisture ingress. I do the same to the under-tank headstock main block connector whenever I have the tank up. I did the same inside the headlight nacelle some years ago so that could do with re-doing. I do the battery terminals at the same time the same.

Happy New Merry
