Being even more of a cheapskate I usually go with something by Peter Storm from Millets/Blacks/Go Outdoors/whatever they're called this week...

You're right about the comfort RT, no breaking in and comfortable from the word go. Good grip too. I wore them on my hike up Arenig Fawr last week and they felt very sure footed.

I tend to go for footwear which I know will cope with relatively serious mountain conditions Trevor. I have bought some of the cheaper, lower quality footwear in the past, but always found myself regretting it once I do any more than ambling about on local, low level footpaths.

Bloody hell

Hope you've had all your vaccinations etc for Redditch

I'm not a serious walker but we regularly do 4 to 5 miles on tracks and footpaths.

A while back I needed some walking / 'approach' shoes sharpish and bought a £30 pair of Karrimors from Sports Direct, on the basis that they were cheap and disposable if they were uncomfortable.

Well, they fitted me perfectly from the off, and lasted for ages while still giving good support and grip. They're a textile top so not waterproof, but we don't walk in the rain anyway. I'd say they were easily the match of a £100+ pair of Merrells or similar.

I bought a pair of Karrimor shoes once, advertised as waterproof - well the metal label attached was, the rest of the shoes- no

I'm very much a lowland or footpath type of walker, so support and comfort are a bit more important for me than extreme grip or climbing ability. Which means I can get away with the cheaper end of the market, and the Peter Storms I usually get usually last me several years.

Thankfully most geocaches are placed in easy to get to places, so folks of all abilities can access them.

Morning all. Reasonably bright here this morning. Mabel and I are heading out for a walk with friends and their dogs shortly. Weather looks set to stay dry so I'll not need the waterproofs this time.

My trip to Brum to walk with Sioned has been put back a day to Friday/Saturday, as Sioned has a job interview on Thursday now.

What's everyone else up to today?

We'll be visiting the Thame Country Show today. Not been to something like that for a very long time.

What role is the interview for, Gary? Best of luck to her for it.

It's for a sales assistant in the Coventry branch of CEX, the refurbished electronics place, Craig.
