Surprisingly my head was OK this morning. Not sure how...

We're back in HW after the usual 3 hour slog of a journey. Mum says it's now raining hard back in Norfolk but nothing yet here in Bucks. Looks threatening though and we also badly need a good soaking.

Morning all. Out with Mabel and it's too warm to go far. We were out at 7:and it was already getting warm then. We're currently sat in the shade of a few trees having a cup of tea and I think we'll just head back home from here before it gets too hot for Mabel.

I'll give the garden and greenhouse a good watering when we get back, then breakfast and a job I've been commissioned to do. I've been asked to make a coat for a friend's dog, so I'll stay out of the sun and get on with that.

How's the day shaping up for the rest of you?

My home office did not quite hit 30 degrees this afternoon, but it was close! Thank flip for oscillating fans!

Morning all. It's going to be another hot day here with temps up to 32°C, but weirdly, a northeasterly wind. I don't think I'll be going far with Mabel in the heat though, it's too much for her. Maybe just down to the river so she can have a swim.

We have a repair café here today and I have two sewing machines to look at. One is a 1914 Singer hand crank and the other is a loud pink electrickery Singer. Interesting contrast!

Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend?

Fox/cat/wood pigeon/? commotion in the garden woke me up at 5 this morning. Gone by the time I looked out so no idea. Lady Poppy was up in Oswestry visiting her sister so, as I could not get back to sleep, I kitted up and went for a mental health ride.

Considering how hot it is now, I'm very glad I set out when I did. And the lack of traffic was bliss! The two hour backroad loop I took normally takes nearer to three hous at a more civilised hour at the weekend.

Will be hiding indoors in the shade I think for most of the rest of the weekend.

An early morning ride can be a thing of wonder. Empty roads, beautiful light, cool temps.

And your mention of the animal commotion reminded me of the old nursery rhyme, which I hadn't thought of in decades:

A cat came dancing out the barn
A set of bagpipes under her arm

I could hear a few brave souls out on their bikes today. Too hot for me, but I think Sir Trev had the right idea.

Woke up (at a normal time today) to a good covering of cloud, keepingeverything cool. Bliss. But it was gone by 10 and now it's stinking hot again...

My garage is thankfully much cooler than the house so I've been hiding in there most of the morning. Chain lubed, bench tidied, bag of stuff I never needed to keep now in the bin.
