Is the legal advice still to get your spouse/legal rep to fill it in for you, with no signature at all, send it off, then if and when it comes to court, you claim to have never seen the NIP and they're not able to call your spouse or legal rep as a witness against you and the case gets chucked out? Seems almost more trouble than it's worth for just 3 points and £60 though, unless you've already got a high score.
Nope, you will get higher points/higher fine for that. They closed the S172 loophole when Idris Francis lost his case.

First of all...

1. What Police Force was the NIP from?
2. What's the date of offence?
3. What's the date they sent out the NIP to you?

They HAVE to send the NIP within 14 days (not working days) if it's from a camera and you were not stopped and spoken to by an Officer.

Thames Valley took over 3 months to send a NIP to my hubby and not knowing our rights on this issue he accepted and paid it. If we had known our rights we would have contested it as has been do so by numerous other cases recently.

and its precisely this sort of thing thats seen my case with van man deferred by up to 6 months cos the system is clogged up with cases. so someone thumps a pensioner and attacks me but doesnt see a court room for 15 months [probably] because they are overloaded with these cases.

great advice. overload it even more so Grinch and I get to wait 3 years for a court date for our cases. :P

Default Birthday present

Leicester old william kindly gave me 3 points for my birthday a few weeks back, bringing me to the nervous total of 9. Life will become much less nervie after 11th Nov this year as I'll be down to 6 and cometh Jan'06 I'll be on 3. I was so looking forward to a clean license, perhaps I should instead have been looking back then I would of spotted the jam sandwich!

I have no intention of contesting it or indeed trying to find a loop hole to get out of it. I WAS speeding and the law is the law. I just think it was rather sneaky and maybe over the top to get me whilst I was already through the danger zone (which was travelled through at the correct speed) and virtually in the National Speed Limit Zone.

I guess the pennies in the piggy bank need topping up again.

You should contest it, waste their time and money like they do yours. At least you'll know it will have cost them more than £60 to get the £60 from you

great. another one who doesnt see the cost of this to those of us who cant get justice for more serious cases because the courts are full of people guilty of the offence making a useless and expensive point.

and if you dont think it doesnt cost YOU anything, where do you think the courts are funded from? your taxes. make it more expensive, watch the cuts come in in other areas and you paying more tax.
