Bars should fit, they are the same diameter so the SV's switch gears and controls will fit and they will also fit into the SV's clamps.

To remove the grips I use WD40, squirt it underneath and a few twists later the grip just slides off.

glad to see its all coming together for you dave.
hows the injuries ??

brock.
Cheers all. Grips probably just a little tight, doubt it's glued, I'll get a screwdriver some wd40 and a spanner (me) on it. Injuries ain't to bad still feelin pretty lucky to be able to walk and such-don't even need a crutch all the time for walking now, just helps with the pain. And it's a long way off coming together - still not picked up the forks and wheel! How's your predicament brock?

Dave- Cheers mate, do you reckon I will need to cut them down or do you think it'll improve handling? They're about 2.5 inches longer at each end and not as angled towards the rider (flater, going to have to stretch arms a little further)

Edit: saying that I've physically just picked up and held both sets and can imagine it's just down to preference. I can already tell these won't be as comfy as standards but'll be loads better than clip ons.

Wouldn't improve handling, but you may find the handling heavier if you are placing more weight over the bars.

You don't need to cut them down, go for a ride with them first as you may like the increased leverage.

[quote=Dave20046;1674168] a spanner (me) on it. quote]

i hear mugs work quite well .

im with Ddave, longer bars can make the steering abit lighter but with u leaning forward furthur will take that gain away.
Test them out around the block when you can ride, and just have a saw or angle grinder ready to take those few inchs off.

i am good thanks .... got new fork stantion tubes being put on then i ride.

With your hips and legs i found going to the gym walking on tredmills and cycling really helped mine, but when you feel ready so no overdoing it.

Talking Re: Bent Banana - The SV resurrection.

Alright folks, feels like I've been away a very long time but after checking it's only been 3 weeks! To be honest I've just been mega ****ed off and undermotivated but no after tonight I've had a motivation injection. Just been round to a mates mate's house (scrap yard!) counted 15 full bikes and 2 cars in his front garden and those were in a sea of parts and tyres. Inside his house was just amazing . Anyhow picked up a new tank (little scratch as he got it out to show us though), second hand front wheel (black but who cares), pristine front mudguard, pristine backplastics and rear light lens and set of forks and yolks (annoyingly enough with progressive springs already in. Just like the ones I've bought brand new ready for them! ...so my new ones are for sale.) got the lot for £250
Will get fitting them this week

Glad you getting yourself into gear..you'll be up n running in no time. Well if you've got spare springs sell em, and get your money back for some more bits

I'm not sure if it'd be worth it

I'm better now, went for my check up in the fractures clinic today and handed over my crutches (no more parking in disabled bays ). Old pelvis seems to have healed well, my spine wasn't fractured in this accident they reckon it's something I will have had from birth. Just get a bit of back pain now and then but otherwise a-okay Time to get the SV done now though...
