Iveco - awful to drive. We have it at work, the Crafter's get taken out everytime before that POS does.

I'm not too bothered about the 1.9td engine, as long as it gets there in the end i'd be happy. Its all about the ownership!

I've emailed the guy about that transporter, trying to find out what the craic is with the service history.
I'm not too sure about 18" alloys as I generally prefer them a little smaller (better ride and better looks imo) but the colour looks amazing. I nearly bought an A3 in the same colour about 5 years ago so I've always fancied a vehicle in that colour!

You probably know your stuff about load ratings on wheels & tyres rob but apparently there's various police forces across the country which are more or less targetting campers with non-load rated alloys (most often common garden alloys designed for corsa's & fiestas).. I'd have thought r8 alloys would be upro the job but prolly worth a check..

As for the rest of it - if it checks out, go for it mate!

Yeah, I am aware of that and rightly so. I wouldnt want to be driving about in a van knowing that the wheels weren't up to the job.

I've seen a lot of the VW/Audi wheels fitted so i'll check that. I might actually go and see the local bodyshop and see how much he'd charge for a full respray. Might be able to get an idea then of whether I should be buying a snotter and starting from scratch, or buying a ready sprayed van and saving £££s.

£4K for a 10 year old van with 162k on?
There are cheap vans out there TBH Ebay isn't the place to be looking. I found mine in the local rag and the guy had no idea what he had. I know what you mean though bud, they have increased in value somewhat and if i was looking again i would probably get an SWB LT Tdi.

Tbh if I did it all over again I'd prolly get respray last as fitting the windows was a fairly straight forward job but there's one or two nicks in the paintwork which would be rectified if I'd gone for a sh*tter and then tarted it up after all the work..

Random of the day: Looks like someone has bought the van rob was looking at and is now on the t4 forums with it - http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=130552

This thread's long over due an update.. I've more or less finished the carpetting (just a few tricky bits behind driver & passenger seatbelts to finish) and the lino floor is in but for some reason I've not taken a picture of the finished floor yet? Will grab one later today..

Also bought a new step from VW to replace the old knackered cracked one.. Much better.

lowered the van this weekend (-50mm springs and dropped the front around the same)... Looks lower than it was but when we get some bigger wheels on there to fill the arches out, it'll look slammed (even more so when we fit side rails to the sills )

Also finally got round to servicing the van bar oil & filter since someone has completely rounded the sump nut off - currently waiting on a set of round off sockets to arrive from ebay. I was driving the van on friday when I thought I heard the exhaust system blowing, and as the journey continued it got much worse.. Maybe it's down to the recent 700 mile round trip to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull for a family wedding? So while I was under the van I had a look round and found this little disaster right after the Catalytic convertor..

Oh and as for our recent trip to mull here's some pics Camped at Beinglas Campsite just north of loch lommond (GM3 campsite)

Driving on the A85 from Tyndrum to Oban..

Tobermory (the capital of the Isle of Mull)

Not a very touristy pic but it was a plate of awesomeness the night before we came home - sirloin steak in a peppercorn sauce with stornoway black pudding, beer battered onion rings with hand cut fries and salad.. FWOAR.

Anywho - next on the list of jobs to do: FIT THOSE BLOODY SAAB SEATS!!! I've procured another single seat base from eBay so it's just a case of hooking up with my mate kev who's gonna show me how to cut down the bases down and re-welding them without ruining them..

Also been and bought the Ikea units over the weekend ready to cut down & fit (maybe before the weekend if I get all my other jobs done!)..

Apart from that, just need to chop the memory foam matress in the spare room to fit the R'n'R bed ready for upholstering..

The white sprayed wheels have been lacquered and are ready for some rubber..

Then that's about it for the high season to do list - when winter comes (and hopefully a bit more money) we'll get all the techy stuff fitted, a cooker & sink fitted into the worktop, split charge system of sorts and then look at upgrading the stereo, fit some speakers (spare pair of 6x9's in the garage doing nowt, just need a decent head unit and an amp.. maybe a sub?)..

If you've read this far, well done & thank you for taking interest
