I do not condone the mistreatment of animals or humans, that being said...
It is not the cats fault, it does what it does. We as humans on the other hand have decided we are the greatest thing on this planet and are self aware autonomous idiots for the most part. I can think of a species that I would consider far more intelligent. An ant from South America. Either she needs to make the cat a house cat, re home it or put it down. If she doesn't, she is making a conscious decision to allow her property to cause distress and harm to others. If I recall correctly, it is an offence of some type to leave a dog if you have caused it injury (eg hit with car or bicycle) and not take it to the vet. If that happened and even if you did you would be responsible for the vet bills. She should be forking out for the bills of the dog as it is essentially the same, her property caused harm to that dog. She should get a slap in the face for every neighbour till she "mans up" and takes responsibility for her cat! And if that still doesn't work then some one should just do the world a favour and off her! Then the cat can go to a responsible owner. Incidentally it would not be that hard to make it a house cat, someone has already said they did it for 2! I have done it in the past but that was for his own protection after moving from the countryside to a busy town.

I did consider not putting it in there but I decided I have very little, if any time for anyone who is that stupid/ignorant. I can't say for sure which, I am leaning towards ignorant but who knows, she may well be a Stella or Darwin awards nominee!
It does, and I must admit I am surprised by this, shock me still how some people can think and behave like her.

+1 on the whole post. It isn't a cat problem it's an owner problem. If someone offs the cat she'll likely get a dog which will act the same and even further terrorise the neighborhood. Worse she probably raises her children the same way. And could care less. The cat can be easily trained. Good luck changing the owner.

Someone earlier said cats can't be trained. They can, but you might not get what you expect.
My neighbours cats, Luke and Lucy, used to be regular visitors. As much our cats as theirs (except for the vet's bills). But they weren't allowed on the kitchen surfaces. If I found them on the worktops they would immediately get chucked out. After a while I'd walk towards the kitchen, hear two thumps as they jumped off the worktop and find them sitting by the front door waiting to be chucked out. That's as close to training as I ever managed to get. |

You can't train cats. You can negotiate with them to a point where you think you have reached a compromise. On weekends I agree a time with the cats to wake us up which is normally an hour earlier than the time Stuart has told them they can wake us up. So if he says 9am, I will then talk to them about maybe 8am and at 7.59am on the dot Iggle launches himself off the windowsill onto my stomach then pokes me in the eye with a loud miow to demand his breakfast. How on earth he can tell the time I don't know but he's bang on every single time.

![]() I do think cats can be trained with such methods as clicker training, but that that is to do tricks. I don't believe cats are trainable in the way dogs are. I think they are just too independent of thought. We never gave to shut our kitchen door, the dogs learned straight away that they just weren't allowed in there, so they don't go in there. They will occasionally lie in the doorway and see if they can get away with their feet creeping over, but it only takes a look and they are gone ![]() I don't think cats would respect an invisible wall like that. Another poster on the other forum last night said that she doesn't have a clue where her cats go when they are out and she shouldn't have to know. That cats roam and that is what they do as wild animals and that people not liking them need to just accept that cats can't be stopped. She then said that there are no laws that can be enforced to stop her letting her cats roam and if they annoy people or damage anything, people should leave a note through her letterbox and she'll talk to them about covering costs. Lol. Made me giggle to be honest...such a community spirited lady ![]() Honestly though, we have so many cats around us, most are not a problem at all but goodness knows which house any of them belong to. I can see the same cats by our house one day and a mile up the road the next so how on earth people are supposed to leave notes through doors is a mystery to me ![]() |
