I never had a routine so it wasn't a problem, once you get more used to running regularly it will become less of an issue.

Right some questions. As you all know I have just started running. I seem to get really tight calfs and shins while running. Sometimes it's the left leg, sometimes the right. Is this something that will go the more I get used to it?

Not really. Not really sure what to do. I do a warm up for 3 - 4 minutes. Any advice on warm ups welcomed.

On a running forum they would say 'listen to your body' - well mine doesn't talk to me...

Think you got proper socks and proper running shoes. But you might be overdoing things mister scoobs. If you don't do a warm up - stretches and gentle exercise to warm up the muscles - then start off slow - I mean real slow, just so you don't suddenly put huge strain on muscles which aren't used to it. And if it persists, try running on softer surfaces - grass, trail, anything other than pavement or concrete. Don't ignore it, you'll end up hurting yourself.

Yeah, got the sock and shoes sorted and now not having any blister problems. I am running on the pavements generally. I was wondering if it was the camber which is stressing the muscles. It really is a **** area to run round near my house. To get somewhere decent I would have to drive out. The route is also quite up and down, so maybe it is too much for a beginerer.

Could be an adverse camber. Hills shouldn't cause the problem, just go rather slower and adjust your landing position - easier to run on forefoot up a hill.
