Yup, the GSXR shock I've got in the rear is a little longer than standard which probably doesn't help, but it was never intended as a track tool so I'm not that bothered. Certainly not a problem on the road.

erm, bare minimum perhaps, space age costly materials, yeah right, when something is designed to be light from the outset it will be, when something is designed to be cheap from the outset weigh saving takes a back seat - as for costly parts i'd suggest you go look up the replacement parts prices for KTM and the major jap manufacturers, in general they'll be substantially less, and as an added bonus you won't damage a supermoto by throwing it down the road, just pick it up and carry on, unlike the SV where you'll most likely lose a peg and a lever, and that's if you have crash protection on, god help you if you don't

i don't know why you keep saying it's too extreme for the road, that's completely subjective, some people prefer a more exciting bike and some prefer a laid back touring style of bike, i'll use whichever i want on any particular day and if you like your SV that's fine just fine, i pointed out the downsides of owning a moto back in post #3, and the only reason this thread got out of hand is because you maintained the assertion that the SV is the faster bike on twisty roads, which you later had to admit wasn't true

so unless you've got something new to bring to the table there's little point in continuing, getting you to admit you were wrong was the only thing i wanted to get from this, the rest was just gravy

im sure you'll have a response to this come morning, i expect sheer curiosity will force me to read it but unless there's anything fresh i'll not be replying to it

Not just light, they're a totally different animal for a totally different purpose. I'd love one of those KTMs, but only as a toy, not as a serious tool.

Wasn't aware this was getting out of hand, but I guess that's not the only thing we don't agree on. Just gone back and re-read all the posts looking for "you maintained the assertion that the SV is the faster bike on twisty roads, which you later had to admit wasn't true" but couldn't find that so have to conclude you need reading lessons as well as riding ones.
As and when you want to prove me wrong, instead of just talking about it, let me know because I'll send you some details of how you can enter a competition which will allow you to put your money where you mouth is. Of course you may not want to rely on your own abilities to prove the worth of your bike in which case I could just send you the results of the last event where there was a fair spread of bikes, and you will rapidly see that when actually given a variety of roads to deal with different types of bikes can be remarkably close.
