IOS (iphone) users views on Android?

A fair point and not one I am going to argue against. I'm lucky I dont buy a huge amount from the itunes store, prefering as I do to own the media itself and then import it in, you can set itunes to work and import as straight MP3 files so you dont have to use the apple AAC format, which then its conveniant to move it do another device, i.e. the MP3 player thats built into our car for example.

But for sheer conveniance I personally feel that apple in that respect are hard to beat where the ipod is concerned.

Agreed, this is something that Apple have worked on and it works amazingly well. There are some linitations to it though, like if i plug my ipod into someone elses itunes, it erases everything. I understand why but its annoying. Their whole user experience is brilliant. App store etc is nice, clean and convenient. I just wish that as Android is open source, that someone would build something similar.

On Android, i find the file system on the Desire a complete nightmare and the software that comes with it to sync, is total pants.

As for syncing music. WMP picks it up as a device and happily syncs to my phone if needed i also have iSync app which does the same with Itunes, but not out of the box.

Anyway, this isn't really answering the question.

Does the marketplace work differently on different phones? On the DHD I can't see how it could be made much simpler, I just search by name, tap the app, tap install, accept the permissions and it's installed as fast as the data connection allows

The market place is complete crap, the search facility is awful.

Elaborate? It's always returned what I expected...

If you know what you want yes its ok, but if youre browsing for a certain type at a certain price with a certain feature etc etc its useless.

What i end up have to do is google search for the app i want then look on marketplace by searching for the name. Even then some phones only see certain apps, i assume its because they are incompatible, but there is no indication of that at all, so you don't know why you cant find it.

Its just bloody awful.
