The scary thing is you can't tell how bad many drivers are until you get in the passenger seat with them.

I recently had a work placement where I had to be driven around to various places by the supervisors. I drove with about 8 of them (7women, 1man), and my god they were absolute shambles. The type of drivers that would stop at a roundabout when they could see very early it was clear, but instead were not focusing on anything but changing down the gears and looking in front - just to give one example of endless other stuff.

With such pitiful driving standards it's no wonder average joe bloggs will not get the benefit of the doubt. No prize for guessing who was the best out of those 8.

I would also class very few of my friends as good drivers. My older sister is a catastophe and reverses into skips. My dad I would say is next best after me

That depends where the van is and what technology is in it. With the laser devices they aim it at a blind bend or the brow of a hill and the second you come into line of sight, it's already gotcha.

Little ambiguous there sorry, I was meaning a fixed camera.

Though there is the place in the advanced riding rules of the road, never mind speed to stop in distance you can see to be clear hows about speed to slow down below ban speeds in distance you can see to be clear

There's a sneaky fixed camera on the A2 eastbound into London. They've hid it behind a concrete block so the only way you would see it is in your left wing mirror as you've passed it, even if you were driving at a snails pace.

If you didn't know that was there and were doing a substantial speed, you wouldn't react and slow sufficiently by the time you saw the fixed camera white markings on the floor.

I also know of some sneaky fixed cameras that have been tactically placed behind big trees and sign posts. And there we were being made to believe these cameras are here to save lives and not out to rob us.

Which means don't take the risk. Unless of course you have inside information.

No inside information, I do work on that piece of road. But its still a camera so its not worth the gamble.
