Well........ lucky for us it's in Cat pipework - there's a few companies selling these cat bypass pipes for around £50-£60

Done a bit of reading around and it turns out that the Cat is only needed to pass the emissions tests when the vehicle is new, and isn't actually needed for MOT.. But then the green part of my brain is juddering seeing as we're already doing a pretty good job of wrecking our planet I'm not 100% happy about completely ditching the cat on a permanent basis.

I reckon I'll prolly stick on a decat pipe til I can afford a newer system in a few months - the same company who makes the decat pipe sells a full system for £335 like the one below

Good work Paul, that Cat falling off is probably the best thing for your van. They dont work like they do on petrol vehicles and they clog up. I had a 2.5tdi Caravelle Variant not too long back and when the exhaust fell off it was like someone released the handbrake. Blanking the EGR takes 5 minutes to do and helps to keep the intake clean too. Keep the cat and weigh it in bud, i have seen them go for over £100 in some places.

Interesting JJ - thanks very much buddy. Already blanked EGR, didn't notice much of a difference tbh but if it stops the engine breathing gas which has come out of it's on ar5e then it can only be a good thing..

Is the 'weighing in cat' bit at any regular scrap metal place? Or would it be worth sticking on eBay? If I can just cover the cost of a decat pipe with the old cat then that would be mega

I'm not sure exactly TBH bud, it was somewhere in London. Have a search on the T4 forum, several people took them to the same place and got similar prices each time. EGR made no difference on mine either, its a progressive change as the gasses clean the intake.

only had one guy saying that I'd be lucky to get £20-£30 for the cat? Not too fussed really, as long as I don't let it go for peanuts if it's worth a little something.. Will try to get pics of interior later before loading up for RTTH in derbyshire tomorra

not updated in a while as I've not been on the org for quite a while now.. any who, ikea Faktum kitchen units now fitted, and front passenger saab seat also now in (wrong seat fitted in pic but now sorted).

so in 6 months from this:

to this:

Also designed and applied this vw bonnet splat graphic

next jobs will be to get the bloody squeaky fan belt fitted and start to look at some ICE.. got some moisture resistant speakers donated by a friend, just need a head unit and flip down screen to mount to the roof. Also pop the other saab seat in this week, and the window in the sliding door needs some attention as the top left corner seems to be slightly loose...
