Really though, how much more inflamed would the al-q's be if he were being held captive and how much more inspiring would he be if put on a high publicty trial?
Being held captive would have only increased his power and influence.

Exactly my thoughts. If he was alive, there'd probably be some nuts who'd take people hostage and demand his release in exchange for them.

As one of the comments in that link points out, this isn't far removed from the SAS in Libya or the French in the Ivory Coast either.

Personally, it is far too easy for people to sit in the comfort of their living room and pass judgement, they didn't just storm a house under cover of darkness not knowing who or what they'd find waiting for them. Likewise, these are ruthless killers who have to be stopped. Does anyone think when they drop a bomb on a bunker they're expecting to take the trrizzzts within prisoner afterwards? In a small plastic bag, perhaps?

I think in light of recent events (Obama deciding not to release evidence of the killing), it would not have made **** all difference if they had pulverized him with a 2000lb bomb or cruise missile (didnt they identify gadafis son after he'd been hit with a cruise missile? :S)

Anyway i dont think theres anything wrong with questioning a story. Especially one that truths are interchangeable with lies.

I think they're more concerned with making sure that THEY know he's dead than YOU know he's dead. They need to make sure, so they send someone to shoot him in the head.

Interesting news that I just heard,

US Navy Seals apparently recovered some of Bin Laden's DNA from a strand of hair in his Abbottabad stronghold. It's believed to contain 24% cocoa,, 52% coconut, 18% sugar and 6% milk. Experts say this is probably due to the bounty on his head.
