Did the world's longest oil and filter change on my Daytona, be rude not to clean the engine up and wash the inside of the fairings plus a wipe around with Acf50 while I'm at it.

Minor tinkering on the VFR today. Heat shield back in place and checked every electrical connector. Electrical problems are the vfr's Achilles heal.

Ran some fresh fuel treated with Redex through the system, and removed the rear carb choke plunger.

Looks like I'll be needing a new choke cable, as this ones very sticky & gritty, but a bit of lube has helped a bit.

Glad I'd swapped the choke plunger screws for allen headed ones, a doddle to remove now

Changed the radiator and fitted a radiator guard to new one. Cleaned front calipers and rear fitted with new pads, tensioned chain (new), checked tyre pressures, changed the oil... bike is now like Trigger's broom.

None bike related tinkering.

Got a couple of sonoff devices, flashed them with Tasmato firmware, set up a MQTT broker, a small web server with PHP to talk MQTT, IFTTT to talk to the web server and.....

Hey Google, turn on the patio lights!

Then stuck openhab onto that server so I can now turn devices on/off from the phone as well!

Oh, the firewall that reverse proxies the IFTTT connection enforces encryption, the MQTT front end web site requires authentication. I also embed a key requirement. So reasonably secure.

The openhab is only accessible through a VPN outside of home so again reasonable secure. Lazy days ahead as I get smarter.

That's not tinkering, Tim. That's architecture.
