Above sums up for me why she's doing what she is.

Many thanks for the kind words guys, is nice that sometimes all my waffling is actually regarded as worth reading lol.

Re. the cervical smear test the NHS Cervical Screening Programme currently offers smear tests to women between the ages of 25 and 65. Cervical cancer is extremely rare in women under 20. Teenagers' bodies, particularly the cervix, are still developing, which means young women may get an abnormal result when there is nothing wrong. This could lead to unnecessary treatment so screening young women might do more harm than good. Invasive Cervical Cancer is also extremely rare in women under 25 which is why they used 25 as the starting point.
Thanks Claire for that, it makes sense i guess

while it is very rare unfortunately it does happen.

i've never missed a smear test yet and don't intend to. a little bit of discomfort for a few mins is nothing compared to the rest of your life.

There wasn't a need for that, it all contributes to a healthy debate and now some of it won't make sense...oh well

No ceiling dose aside from that common side affect. Death.
(I know what you mean though )

There is this myth about morphine ie. "Once you start taking morphine, the end is always near." Morphine does not initiate the final phase of life or lead directly to death. Morphine provides not only relief of severe, chronic pain, it also provides a sense of comfort. It makes breathing easier. It lets the patient relax and sleep, it doesn`t cloud consciousness or lead to death.

If it`s given in very high amounts (and I mean whoppingly high doses) at the most it slows down respirations which produces a calming effect on the body and the mind. The slowed respirations along with the welcoming calm sometimes allows people to let nature take course.

At the end of the day when death is inevitable it`s far kinder to keep someone comfortable and painfree. There`s a saying that death is only hard for the living, not the dead and it`s so very true.

Does this mean that we will have more compassion for those then of a public figure, just because the persona that you have viewed through a highly edited TV drama you dislike??

Incidentally she won’t be able to enjoy the "profit" it will go to her two boys. Would you deny a mother the right to help her sons out in these circumstances??
Great post
