My guitar career has been less than stellar since I started this thread sadly. After crashing & breaking my collarbone I couldnt practise for ages and even now I'm healed I just never really got back into it. My mate has given up teaching too. I'm moving house on Saturday and had to think long & hard about whether to try & sell my guitar but decided to keep it and give it another go, might see if I can find a new teacher after I move house.
God- I missed so many posts on this thread!!

Glad you decided to keep the guitar. Enjoy getting back into it again!

update, well i got a westfield strat style guitar package, £130, it's ok, i can trade it back in when i reach a standard that requires a better instrument. so far have just got main chords nearly down, and now trying to put them together, you know wild thing, three little birds, better not give up my job just yet, so far am liking it, steel strings hurts a bit for the first week or two, now not so bad, onwards and upwards

And it gets resurrected again...

After some thirty years my cheapo LP copy is now pretty worn out. Despite the efforts of my local shop it cannot be set up properly any more due to fret wear - too many buzzy points now unless the action is set way too high plus the volume pot is on the way out (again).

So it's time for a new one. Recommend me something in the £300-ish range mighty Org.

Current thoughts are Vintage Advance AV6 or similar. Will be plugged through an emulator box to headphones in the dining room for personal fun. Have not played in a band for decades now and have no desire to any more.

somebody posted a link on here ages ago which had loads of popular songs and showed pics of which frets & strings to put your fingers on, in time to playing the music - can't find it anywhere?
