Surely pikeys in schools would just waste places which could be given to kids who might actually turn up?

I tend to agree with this really. I think no matter what you think your opinions are, this is a natural human trait. People tend to stick in groups of people that are similar to themselves. People can say its outdated and not PC or racist but i think its just a fact.

I suppose in a basic way this can be proved by the very fact that we are all talking to each other right now- purely because we all own the same bike.

It seems that we spend our time and engery being more concerned about the differences between us all.

Is it not time that we started to use our brains, our intelligence to work on what we have common which is alot more than the differences.

but what about the people who don't want to mix and/or intergrate?-surely they also have rights to say that they are happiest with there own like and they will feel that they are being pressurised into doing something they don't want to.

Not saying you shouldn't have your own comfort zone within your family or community, but personally I think if you go to live in a foreign country its courtesy to try and integrate. If you are happiest with your own like and don't want to, then stay at home where you'll feel perfectly "at home".

works both ways mate-stay at home in your own country with your own like and your happy-others who are different to you then come to your country and settle and you are forced to accept it, therefore you end up being made unhappy in your own home.
not my opinion but this proves that there is always two sides to this issue-who is to say which point is right/wrong

Not forced to accept it, I'm quite happy to accept it so long as we are not talking illegal immigrants, and therefore it doesn't make me unhappy in my own home. But just as when I go to a foreign country, I mix with the people from that country, make an attempt to use some of the language, eat the local food, and don't erect signs in English and fly union jacks in everybody's face, I'd like immigrants to this country to extend the same courtesy.
