Had the T4 in for it's MOT today... Fooook miii..

Failures:
  • Offside rear brake pipe excessively corroded
  • Offside front (from flexi to caliper) brake pipe excessively corroded
  • nearside front brake pipe excessively corroded
  • nearside front (from flexi to caliper) brake pipe excessively corroded
  • nearside outer rear brake pads less than 1.5mm thick
  • rear brakes release unevenly

And then the bloody advisories:
  • Offside front brake hose slightly deteriorated
  • Offside front track rod end ball joint has slight play
  • offside front brake pipe slightly corroded
  • offside outer rear brake pad wearing thin
  • nail in nearside rear tyre (ffs)
  • rear brake discs corroded & scored in particular offside
  • handbrake cable is ed

Then the garage kindly quoted the following...

Repair instructions:
  • Replace rear discs and pads - 1.5 hrs. £82.50
  • Replace brake pipes for MOT and OSF flexi hose - 5 hrs, £275!!!
  • Replace OSF track rod end - 1 hr, £55

and the parts required for the above jobs
  • Pagid Rear Brake Discs x2 - £35.88
  • Pagid Rear Brake Pad Set - £38.50
  • Lemforder OSF Track Rod End - £35.89
  • Brake Pipe & Unions - £35
  • Pagid Brake Fluid (1 litre) - £6.50

Total Time: 7.5 hours @ £55/hour
Parts: £187.65
Labour: £412.50
Sprinkle on a bit of VAT for a bit of kick: £120.03

Mix it all together and pop in the pressure cooker (aka my head) for around 4 hours....

£720.18!!!!

....allow to cool. Serve with a kick in the nuts. There I was thinking about spending some money on nice bits for when the weather gets better!

Not quite the same issues with my Bongo, but new alternator £120 just before Christmas.

Easy to do myself.

New centre section exhaust £89, doesn't help when mistakenly ordered the front section £29

Plus a feckin car parking fine £40 just before Christmas

FFS get a pipe swage and a length of pipe and some unions, dead easy to do all the above.

I used to use Volks World at Preston, give them a bell to see what they will do your bits for.
