Hi
i just wrote off my car, the market value was this, the insurance rep looks at similar cars in my area and i get an offer of the average price of the 2 or 3 nearest matches to my car, parkers etc are not accepted for insurance purposes (i tried that one) but they do like receipts etc, this might push up the market value they offer, i did manage a £100 increase.... having put to new tyres on a month ago...

so if your area is flooded with cheap SV's then the avarage will be your market value.

hope this makes sense...

i travel to brizzle on my SV a bit, and my thoughts went out to you and your loss.... i normally just chain it up no cover outside the hotel...

I've just read through this thread, I was so angry at reading it had happened twice! This country annoys me more every day! (Except last Tuesday when I was in Wales and didn't get annoyed all day)

I wish there was a way I could help, such as a flying over the area in a light aircraft and releasing a gas into the air that kills people with specific genes and/or a criminal record.

So sorry to hear about your bike Nadine, hope you get it sorted quickly and cheaply.

Oh that is so unblievably bad, I am so sorry for you. Absolute scumbags, sounds like chavs if you ask me, what with the wanton destruction, poor mechanics and leaving it lying around.

Hi guys, things are looking worse than ever. The insurance inspector came around yesterday and explained to me that he will have to mention damage to the frame in his report, because where the steering lock was cracked, the frame is scratched.

SCRATCHED. A FEW MILIMETERS. ITS A FRAME AND NOT A SUGAR HOUSE. Bloody hell.

So that means I am now waiting for a call from the insurance telling me that they will categorise B my bike and take it off me. This sucks. I am so fed up, I can't describe it. Does ownership not mean anything anymore these days???

I said to the inspector that I definitely want my bike back, but he explained that I am not allowed if it is a category B, because of bla bla bla.

I think he does not know what he is on about. IT IS ONLY A SCRATCH. Have I got the right to appeal against such a decision?

I cannot believe that I gonna loose my bike, only because some scumm bags were bored on a Friday night. And after having been sure that I will be able to put it back on the road within 3 months, this insurance dude declares that they will simply take it away from me. ****ing **** this is. I can't find other words.

Time to cut your losses, get the best deal you can out of the insurance, and get another bike.Dont let them fob you off with a silly value either.

I just had a call from the inspector - he valued the bika at....

£2100.

Saying that my excess is £450, I am guessing I will receive £1650. But apparently I have to wait till the claims office comes back to me...

I have no idea about appealing any decision.

Cat B'd though, you wouldn't want back as it can't be used on the road after that.
