yeah sounds about normal for a bike ride, all part and parcel of the fun, let the adventures begin......

Cheers Mark.

Yay, well done MYC, bus stops can be scary when you are learning. Carol always told me to be careful of busses pulling out, she said its not that they don't see you, they just don't care! Eek

I had another ride on my SV today, I popped over to Clevedon to take the wife a spot of lunch, a lovely beef sandwich. Total distance of 32miles for two slices of bread and some roast beef filling! I love riding my bike.

Also it was a lovely day!

Thing with buses, as from a bus driver friend, is they can't see anyone, until practically in their side window, the mirrors can't reflect down the length of the bus properly.

A good tip is to look through the back window, and see if there are any people either getting off, or paying their fair, gives you a good chance to estimate if you have enough time to pass safely.

This morning I rode the normal 8 miles to work (on my own now, I'm a big girl!) managed to bump it up the step at work no probs, all gravy

Then, as the weather was still dry I thought I'd be adventurous and head a different way home (#shock, horror#). So over the tops I went, taking it easy up on the moors as was a little unsure about the road surface and it was windy so averaged about 40mph (got overtook a fair bit hehe). Then thought I'd head up through a little village over to home until I found the road was closed...came back the way I'd come a little way and took another route back to a busy road. Got a bit closer to home before decided I'd take another diversion up a hill ... before finding ANOTHER road closed....took yet another diversion which I knew was going to take me down a very steep hill and a hairpin bend, got through that ok. Went up another steeeeep hill up more bad road surfaces, all the time inching closer to home Got to a builtup area, by this time I was getting a bit tired but I was only really 5 mins from home. Came to a mini roundabout with a bustop straight after it. Car between me and a bus which promptly stops at the bus stop after the roundabout. Car in front of me indicates to go round bus and nips in front of it. Bus only just stopped so I thought it would be there a tad longer (enough for me to get past anyway)...get just alongside it past its back indicator when suddenly that indicator came on and he's pulling out! Obviously hadn't seen me. I could see 2 approaching cars in the other direction and a gap so I had to accelerate quickly (all the time this bus is pulling out) and nip in front! Slight "breathe in" moment! Was ok though

So there we are. I've got a real epic journey to make tomorrow which is going to be a challenge but hopefully it will be ok.

Keep tuning in for more updates on MYC's riding adventures
I've been riding long enough to know better but they still get me, those damn bus-drivers. B*ll*x they can't see you in the mirrors, if you look you can see the driver. If they didn't force their way into the traffic the timetable would go to pot, so I'm fairly forgiving with it. When away they are usually considerate!

Been out in the rain for the first time today, also experienced first gravel and cattle grids too. All fun and games

Done about 150 miles now in a week, yey! (that's a lot for me )

Ok last update now and then I'll drop the thread

Did 100 miles today, just over. Amazed myself lol. Went all the way to the other side of Leeds (close to Castleford) along the ring road, must have gone through 30 roundabouts lol. Lost myself on a couple and had to get back on them but other than that it went ok until...

...Got within 8 miles of home and thought I'd better stop for a break (hadn't stopped all the way back from Castleford ) and parked up with a bag of Maltesers ....went to set off again after letting YC know where I was...bumped the bike off the stand and a gust of wind out of nowhere...well obviously somewhere ... toppled it in slow motion onto the bledy floor! I then tried SO HARD to pick it back up but couldn't do it (was on a slight incline and a bit of gravel too), even tried that way in that vid Darren posted up, but couldn't do it..poor weak me...so had to wait for a car to come along. 2 minutes later sure enough one turned up and pulled over immediately, big bloke in a bright rainbow coloured jacket and colourful earring, he helped me right up and wanted to wait till I'd pulled away before setting off, some people are so nice! THANKYOU RAINBOW MAN whoever you were! After a few coughs and splutters the YBR was away and we tootled off home. That'll teach me for being cocky and taking a route back over the moor when I could have gone home the easy way after 90 miles No harm done though!

I am absolutely loving that YBR, so forgiving, puts up with me being stupid and not many things can cope with that, even YC struggles sometimes . Really appreciate that glorious feeling of opening up the throttle too, getting more accustomed to wind attempting to blow me off course too. Ah this is the life!
