Camera raw files are all different, say you have a canon 500d and then move to a 550d they save to the same file type (.cr2) but you need an update to read them as the actually data can vary, with gimp being free it can take a while for the patch to come through etc.

Also I found gimp to be a bit buggy on occasions with raw files etc, still one heck of a program for free though

1. My PC does, and I've not done anything special to it...

2. What features do you want, try google and you'll find plenty, lots of people make software for you if you don't use a pokey OS for specialists

3. Try google again, plenty of people editing AVCHD in movie maker, if that's your bag, or download another one

4. Enough to know windows handles them without any problem, not that I use the built in viewer anyway, I prefer Faststone

Still waiting to hear how Photoshop works better on a mac, define "better" and support your argument with some evidence instead of making sweeping generalisations...

Doesn't matter if I do or don't do any photography, you still haven't given any, let alone "lots" of features your mac has that you cannot easily and freely obtain on a much cheaper and equally specced PC

I may be speaking from ignorance (other than seeing a price list once ) but if features are so good why could you not just put the OSX onto superior and cheaper normal hardware?

I have far more exciting things to be doing than chatting with some keyboard warrior like yourself.

You remind me of the "goths" when i was at school they were all totally against fashion 100% but that was a fashion in itself. What im trying to say is id rather listen to some mac fanboy telling me how good apple is rather than you even more intense and annoying "mac is crap" talk

You can... kind of, called a hackintosh plenty of people do it but there are a fair share of bugs and apple updates keep bricking them

If pointing out why your assertions are false and without basis in reality makes me a computing god then awesome, where do I sign up to some well paid IT job?? Anybody with a PC and access to google could invalidate your argument, doesn't take any special skill...

I dont think its that simple, a quick google started on about hacking motherboards and components together, there was another link to installing on a Dell, but it seems a complete ballache, A bit like putting a TL lump into an SV frame would how I would describe it. doable, but also mental at the same time.

It'll be to do with Hardware / drivers that the OS is looking for, you'd be just as well to just install Linux or Ubuntu or something like that I would have thought.

I dunno, the goth bit made me smile briefly, mostly because goths typically eschew the mainstrean and have a thing for achromatic colour schemes, which sounds more like the Apple brigade to me...
