I just don't understand why it'll get pressure it'll push the pistons out, it'll hold pressure...but won't get any more pressure than a slightly stiff finger and thumb squeeze back to the bar.
cos there must be some air in there somewhere.....if you have no leaks thats all it can be.

I can't be sure I don't have leaks though, I wipe everything down and it all seems to get damp pretty quick but I can't tell if it's come from the bleed nipple/reservoir while I've been bleeding.
It couldn't be the fluid could it?

Ok, the way to do this is be very carful about when you disconnect the bleed hose you are using. If you have a good flexible clear rubber hose it should seal tight over the nipple. Have a good supply of kitchen roll or rag handy and keep everything bone dry.

If you are still getting fluid then its leaking.

Most obvious places are normally the bleed nipples themselves, the cone at the base of each nipple is the seal, not the thread. Check that these cones are clean and smooth, no rust or damage to the surface. All other locations should have copper washers and shouldnt leak if they are tightened properly.

Give it a good once over clean and get everything dry before you start. Failing that shove it in a van and bring it over, I'll get em working for you.

I haven't read all the pages of replies for obvious reasons but...

Have you tried bleeding the brake banjos? The big bolts that connect the brake line to the reservior and the caliper? What you need to do is the same method as the bleeding nipple, get someone to slowly squeeze the brake lever in while you undo the banjo and untill liquid comes out then tighten it back up before the brake lever reaches the handle.

Make sure that it is tightened back up before the brake reaches the handle though otherwise you will just be letting air into the system. I find normally the first couple of times I do this when bleeding brakes I just get a tiny bit of fluid and mostly air spitting out so you need to do it untill all you get is fluid coming out when you undo it.

Cheers Flymo I'll recheck the nipple, I have dried everything down but it gets wet again and I just can't tell if it's a leak or spillage from the bleeding/filling the reservoir.

Cheers for the offer Flymo I haven't any access to a van anymore though, I've been dropped off works insurance and being 18 I can't rent or get insured for a day on a mates

I dont honestly see the need to bleed the top banjos especially with a naked and its combined res/master cylinder. As long as the bike is on its side stand and the bars turned to the right it will be fine.

Why turn bars to the right? Surely that makes M/C stick up in the air a tad? I put on side stand with bars turned left, makes end of M/C point down slightly so any air move up towards reservoir?
