It's a really old term, rat bikes have been around for ages. Mine is more survival bike than rat though, and even then only an amatuerish attempt at one. Then again, no deliberate attempt has been made to make it look scabby, it's all through use/need/laziness

"Rat bike" is a complete ratter which never gets cleaned but never seems to break down either

I was only asking what gear you got upto to keep it on topic. I'm fearing a mods' stick coming through the letter box and poking me for chatting in idle banter

Easiest way I used to tell if I was in 6th was 20mph above the revs. So 80mph in 6th gear on the sv was 6 thousand revs 100mph is 8k revs on a closed road and so on. Of course, all that has changed with the thou since it's only at 5k revs when cruising at 80 on the motorway

Rev counter: Tells you how hard you're trying, Speedo: tells you how well you're doing

fair play.. but why a rabbit?! lol

if you know when you're in 1st and 2nd, and 6th, you're half way through remembering you're gears To be honest, at the end of the day, when all's said and done, I ride in the gear which best suits the conditions... Sometimes I might take a corner in 3rd, sometimes 2nd, depends on my mood & the corner. As long as you're speed is right and the engine isn't laboured down the revs at like 1-2k revs then it's not like you can be in a desperately wrong gear

so what ya had her upto so far then?

I noticed that, tut tut torrents. A fair few people have fb it in their sigs.

I'm feeling the SV has me won over, over the CBRF in fairness. I have looked at other bikes but SV with its "powerr" on the restrictor gives me the thumbs up.
