Shrewsbury expected to declare at 3am. They don't need to stay up, it'll be a Tory hold with an increased majority.

IoW is in danger of slipping to the Lib Dems, the Tory council have made a few enemies in the last few years by being the ones who had to force through inevitable school reform, so it'll be interesting to see what happens...

Same here, I've always had the same polling station, (my primary school!), and I've never queued to vote before, this evening I waited in a queue of 30 or so people, by the time I had voted the queue was out of the door - perhaps ~50 people.

I spoke to one of the local candidates, (my neighbour), and he said that turnout was up significantly.

I did hear one group pointing at the candidate sheet exclaim "Bob Keats? I thought he was dead" - The green party obviously not campaigning very hard down here

That can only be a good thing. I don't care whoever people vote for (as long as it's Conservative) as long as they use one of the very few democratic rights we have left. I'm passionate about voting, it was local election day on the day I was discharged from hospital after my off in 2004 and I went into the polling station in a wheelchair on the way home. Grandfather fought the Germans in the Battle of the Atlantic and FIL fought the Japs in Singapore so that I can have this luxury and I will never but never take it for granted.

My thoughts exactly but there are reports coming in that it's a widespread problem. Why they rely on paper votes in 2010 I have no idea. If everyone voted on computers all results would be in within the hour.

Question is who the lib dems stole votes from. Hung parliament seems to be the popular outcome.

Sadly, this is the bit of your post that really stands out right now.

All the rest quite true of course.
