I know you'll all be devastated* - but I can't come. Very inconsiderate friends getting married on a weekend when I wish to ride my motor-bicycle**.
Which is a shame as K shall, for the present at least, remain merely imaginary, and although I have a very vivid imagination, I'm sure the reality is better. * Or, more likely, very pleased. ** To be fair, I ride my motor-bicycle most weekends, thus it would be difficult to pick one when I wasn't planning to do so. All the same this weekend is important, some people are so selfish.

![]() EAR RIDEOUT – 1st March 2008 Tommorow we meet at MacDonalds at 9am for a 10am start. Here are the brief directions of the route. The Map http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=...,1.277161&z=10First Leg From Eye Services, follow A1073 towards Crowland/Spalding In Spalding, follow A151 towards Bourne. In Bourne, follow A151 to Colsterworth, via Edenham, Grimsthorpe and Corby Glen. At Colsterworth/A1 junction, enter Colsterworth Services, have a cuppa, bite to eat, loo break and chill. Second Leg From Colsterworth Services, cross A1 onto A151 towards Melton Mowbray, via Stainby, Buckminster, Garthorpe and Saxby. At Melton Mowbray, Take A606 to Burton Lazars via Langham and Oakham. At Oakham take A6003 to Uppinham. At Uppingham take B664 to Market Harborough At Market Harborough take A4304 to Market Harborough. Turn right after railway bridge, signposted Great Bowden. Entrance to Midland Superbikes is on left hand side around 50 yards after turning into road. Third Leg From Midland Superbikes, return to roundabout at A427 and follow signs to Corby /Weldon. Stay on A427 towards Oundle, via Upper and Lower Benefield. Through Oundle follow A605 to Haddon Services on junction with A1. Tips and recommendations (taken from recent rideout with Pete and Lissa) Introduce yourself to the ride organiser and swap moby numbers with him and at least 1 other participant Full tank of gas or as near as is practically possible. Tyre pressures checked and in good condition. Breakdown cover. Check if your bike is covered in the event of an accident or breakdown. Full recovery is best. And make sure you have contact numbers for them. I.C.E. (In case of emergency numbers) These should be in your phone under that heading. Should someone need to be contacted on your behalf. Map. If you haven't got proper ones then rip out the page(s) of an old map book, or get a photocopy, or print one off the internet. It is NOT the responsibility of the organiser to get you home. Waterproofs. Just because it's sunny doesn't mean it's gonna stay so. If you're using a dark visor, bring your clear one as well. DO keep an eye on your mirrors. DO ride responsibly. DO stagger your position on the road so as to maximise forward observation and braking distances. DO ENJOY YOURSELF DON'T do anything you're not comfortable with. It's not a race . DON'T follow too close to the bike in front and don't fixate on them. DON'T assume the rider in front knows what he's doing. DON'T stop if one of the group get pulled over. DON'T worry about keeping up and what the others might think. DON'T CRASH! Last edited by Mike2165; 29-02-08 at 03:54 PM. |
