Starting to look like I might have my own ewan & charley style support vehicle for this one we'll travel along similar routes & link up at the borders... but really, the motorcycle will be on it's own.

Me & dani are stopping at her parents caravanfor a few days after gm so we're bringin the car as well

I'm not riding this one anymore guys, I highsided the bike in Ireland this weekend and landed on my face and hands (well visor and gloves, but you know what I mean), then shoulder and legs went down and I slid on my belly for a bit. My visor, gloves and textile jacket are all wrecked, and my lid definitely went down but mainly flat on my visor, and even though the rest of it doesn't look bad in terms of scratches, the chin vent is broken off, etc, so I don't know if I should ride in it again or throw it away. I'm OK, but pretty sore and stiff all over and can't get my watch over my black and blue hands or my wedding ring on my finger this morning, and have a gouge out of one knee and bruising to my right shoulder and left leg. The bike is actually not too bad, just a broken nose cone and a mirror, but I fear I may have bent the forks, won't know 'til I get them off. I've ridden 500 miles since and I've still got my XT600 to potter about on locally, so I'm still riding. I'll probably be fine physically by the end of the month, but I'm not up mentally to ride the GM and I'm not prepared to go and spend hundreds of pounds in new gear in the next couple of weeks. I'll just turn up in the car on the Saturday evening and spend the rest of the weekend visiting friends and family.

I NEED TO F***ING SLOW DOWN!

Ouch!! - ditch the helmet its not worth the risk. Come up on saturday I'm sure you'll be made welcome and there will be space to bunk down if needed. Just make sure you get better and sorted. BTW where abouts in Ireland where you!

Woah, that sounds nasty.

Glad you're relatively OK.

Shame it's put the mokkers on your GM though.

Could have been a lot worse Ralph, what a downer to your trip. A face tarmac interface isn't a very nice thing to be happening!

As usual I was attacking the corners like a bat out of hell Dizzy, it touched a patch of gravel that had been dragged off an unsurfaced side road and I was off it a split second. I'm going to fix the SV and if I don't slow myself down after this I'm going to sell it and buy something slow and heavy. I'm an idiot! Anyway this is derailing the thread as it's nothing to do with the GM.

You and Vale!

F**k the derail......Scary stuff, but easily done. Sorry to hear you took a tumble, but glad you've come away relatively OK.

Will see you in a few weeks.

Glad to hear you're not too banged up mate. Highsides are the scary ones no-one wants to experience. When it's because of something random it's bound to take the edge off your enjoyment, so you're absolutely right to take a step back rather than force yourself to do it anyway.

We'll see you there on Saturday and back on a bike at some rideout beyond that. No rush, mend yourself for now.
