Re: The MTB thread
Just fitted my new dual air Revelations Call me a weight weenie, but the difference in feel from losing a half kilo off the front is quite mad, I totally fail at manuals but on my test ride I almost backflipped the thing Setup's going to take a while I think, I just spent 5 minutes playing with the compression damping adjuster before realising that it only affects the lockout... And I'll never get tired of winding the fork length up and down.
Weather forecast's poor for the weekend. Don't care. Going up the hills anyway, if all else fails I'll head for the woods and play under the trees all day like I used to 15 years ago on my first mtb. I've decided that since my savings are only getting 2% anyway, I might as well get me some nice wheels to match my nice frame and forks. And, oh well, if I buy the XTs from Merlin they'll throw in a pair of XT brakes for only another £80. Temptations...

Re: The MTB thread
Not sure, my scales aren't very good... Still heavier than it ought to be since it's got the carrera wheels and cheap truvativ crankset, and some other randomly heavy stuff. Sub 13 kilos but past that I haven't a scooby

Re: The MTB thread
was freezing up on NYM today, about -4 with an even greater wind chill! Managed about 10 miles of various terrain (bumpy in places due to the frozen mud) Fell off a few times on the bloody ice, I was coming down a bank with some icy snow on it, all of a sudden it goes to hard pack ice! Front end just washed away and I cushioned the fall with my helmet & elbow. No bruises though, just good fun

Re: The MTB thread
It was bloody awful here... 40mph wind gusts, sporadic heavy rain, not nice.

Re: The MTB thread
Went out from Osmotherley Tim, up along the Cleveland way, down to Kepwick through the wood and then back up onto the Cleveland way again to return. I didnt fancy Guisborough woods as I knew I definitely would fall off there! Didnt quite expect so much widespread ice as there was absolutely none of it even at Osmotherley.

Re: The MTB thread
Im just getting back into Mountain biking... had a brake for some reason. But no longer.
I've got a downhill orientated bike but it should do for some less extreme Xcountry. I got a Kona Stuff 2-4 with the edition of 40T single speed DH crank with DMR chain guide. 206mm 4pot avid front brake for extra stopping power (my god it stops!!!!!), can you believe that they make these callipers, there are some 6 pots about too Its basically that but as said different crank setup and different front brake. |
