I think he had a scare goning down in towards Ambleside...
nearly got taken out by oncoming traffic whilst trying to over take on a 6' 6" wide road... Ask BluePete as he and I were behind him.

Just been on the phone to ambleside backpackers, they have space on the 21st. We can reserve space (with a deposit).
There are some alternative places in ambleside, but probably best to keep everyone in one place. We have a few options on what to do, we could book space now, but if people drop out less than 48 hours before the 21st then they want paying the full rate for any rooms booked. The price is £17 each, but will try to get a bit of a discount if we are booking for a load of us.

Sorry I don't think I've been watching this thread closely enough - what's the actual plan? I might pick somewhere along the route to tag along for a bit if I have my bike running. Not sure about braving the whole thing

Meet up in the morning on a saturday, likely the 21st. Probably around 10am (for 11am set off)
Meet up might as well be on the M6 again. Then a rideout, route to be decided. Go to ambleside (we think so far), food, beer, kip. Short ride again in the morning for anyone who wants to join us, then dissappear off home.

The plan is simple, like most things that rely on orgers to run...
Ride to start, forgetting route maps as you go. Meet up with people you haven't seen since the last one, and talk carp with them ignoring the ride leaders briefing. Ride from wherever to wherever, trying not to crash on the way. Arrive at bunkhouse/campsite, get extremely silly until the wee hours, and then try to sleep through someones ridiculous snoring. Wake up, make excuses for previous night and repeat or ride home as appropriate. All these steps are done with various degrees of success, and everyone insists on returning for the next one. |
