Re: INTERESTING FACT OF THE DAY
Many years ago in England , pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used the whistle to get some service. 'Wet your whistle' is the phrase inspired by this practice.

Your stomach has to produce a new layer of mucus every two weeks;otherwise it will digest itself.

Re: INTERESTING FACT OF THE DAY
Pigeons produce milk to feed their young.
If you wondered how I stumbled onto this, yesterday on the way back from a training course I almost tripping over a pigeon I asked a friend 'why are there loads of pigeons in towns and most of the year?' He answered in a very learned man way, 'Many reasons but did you know both parents make their young milk. I think it's called crop milk, a bit like cottage cheese. Plus unlike many other birds, pigeons don't see humans as a massive threat. That and they breed like rats!' After a quick Google, I was amazed to find they do produce this stuff. NOTE: If you're squeamish & eating your breakfast or do not want to be put off eating your dinner don't read on. Re: INTERESTING FACT OF THE DAY
I learnt something, I never knew any birds produced milk, I thought it was purely a mammal thing, cheers!

Re: INTERESTING FACT OF THE DAY
I wonder if it'd be practical to milk them? Yields are going to be a bit less than a good dairy cow but then they'll be a bit cheaper to get in the first place.
Going to need a really small milking stool though
