Keep an eye on Darley Moor website as, I'm sure I've seen an newcomers open day that they have sometime in the winter (thinking November) which is where you can spend an evening at the club talking to current races and ACU members to ask questions and gain information on how to go about gaining your ACU licence and starting racing etc.

I'll keep you posted on how I get on at Darley Moor. I was planning on doing a track day there this Friday to get a feel for the track and scrub some new tyres in, but looking at the weather forecast, its set to chuck it down all day

Let me know how you get on at Cadwell in October.

I clicked on the link to the GPS receiver which looks good. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace. Would this phone be up to the job?

So all I need to do is buy the GPS receiver, download the RaceChrono app and pair them together then I should be good to go? (I'm not the best when it comes to technology)

Cheers

Ahh sucks because I have an iphone so cant really use that method!

Im hopefully going to be getting a track bike in the next couple of months anyway as I dont fancy taking my pride and joy around the track again even though it was great fun on the zed!

Yeah, download the app first from the market place. Hopefully it'll run fine and you can even give it a little test in the car with the phone's own GPS (If that phone has GPS built in)

There is a little bit of "pairing" to do when the phone first tries to link to the external GPS but it was straight forward enough from what I remember.

Watch this space for antics at Cadwell on the 7th.

No problem. Any good shots of you?

Quick update:

I booked a Competitor Training Course (CTC) last minute in order to begin applying for an ACU road racing license.
Did it at Darley Moor today, a 2.5hr drive both ways and job done!

The course is good, lots of info to digest, the test itself covers the flags mostly and also paperwork things like who sorts out your entry forms, race numbers etc.

For those thinking of doing it soon, be aware that after October 31st, your DVLA A category license will NOT count as your competence proof. That just means you'll have to take your bike and pay £50 for the test and on track assessment.

So just need an eye test now and find / buy some passport photos.

That's all for now!
