Its only a leaver on Bears bike as it leaves marks on the tarmac!!

Its lever!!!

Now, go and write lever 100 times and don't get it wrong again!!

Yep, according to the Fonts of Knowledge it is well and truly buggered, but one of them will take a look. I'd send it back, but it only cost me £10 and I've had it sitting in the shed for almost a year and can't find the reciept!

I may still have a spare in the shed of unearthly delights. I'll go check later.

Was it an original SV gearshift one? Also was it the left hand thread end?

From reading above it sounds like you only replaced the lever itself not the whole rearset shebang.

Maybe a pic to resolve the 'what bit' issue incase i'm totally wron here!?!

Got no camera so can't show you the bit, but it's basically the ball and socket joint, the ball has come out of the socket and the little metal bit that holds it in has gone Ping! It's form an aftermarket bit, so an original probably won't do it.

Not to worry. I've put the original back on and that should do it for a while.

Try these

http://www.fastroadandtrack.co.uk/fr....php?adid=2528

Scroll down the page a little and you'll see the metric ones, priced about £2-50 each.

Morning all.

I've repaired a few rose joints after similar 'Ping F@@KIT' moments.

If you remove the rubber, assuming it has one, you can usually see the end of the 'ball'. It is possible to drill & tap the 'ball' & use a small bolt & a washer.
If I remember correctly I used an M4 bolt, the tricky bit is to have the bolt bottomed out in the tapped hole, whilst leaving enough clearance to allow the joint to move against the washer, so shorten the bolt a little at a time until it's the correct length.
I also made a new circlip once out of spring steel wire. Either way results in a lot of faffing around, which from my point of view is usually not cost effective, but it could get you out of trouble.

Cheers
