BUT, whilst we are on the subject of borrowing tools, Any chance of bringing your lazer chain aligner thingymajig to the Shire tomorrow so I can see how much my chain is out......and possibly put it right.
Erm...what's that all about? something else I need to worry about ? is this to do with getting your chhain adjusters each side equal? how likely is it to be out?
Cheers

That was the trouble. Tony had used the adjusters. No surprise then that the chain was out of alignment.

Yep, I had used the marks to "align" my chain.
Now it has been done with the lazer thingymajig they are different by one notch.
I don't know if its psychological but it does feel better.

What on earth can you feel?
I can appreciate a correctly aligned chain is obviously better - but what can you feel

Before it felt like i was a lot better one way round corners than the other.
In fact going round left handers it felt a bit "wrong" as if steering round instead of leaning round.
As I said earlier, it may be in the mind but left handers are a lot more comfortable now.

All I can say is check your chain and see how well it is adjusted. Mine has been like it was for 20,000 and I have said for ages that when cornering I felt more comfortable on my ER5. Things have changed now, and I am a happy chap.

Ah, so you can feel it in the allignment of your rear wheel rather than your chain.

Well the last time my chain wasn't aligned I could feel it through the pegs. The chain digs into the side of the sprocket. But yes also, through steering. Although you need to be riding quite enthusiastically before you'll feel the difference.

You'll find it corners well going round left corners but feels less fluid going round right corners. (vice versa, depending on which way the wheel is out of alignment).

I can feel alot of vibration through my pegs - just think the chain is shot. Cornering's not a problem either way AFAIK
