I'll go check that out on saturday then- cheers all! Still tempted by the part-built one just for the project but it'll need to be cheap to compete I think.

I have had my trusty Giant for five years and it still feels brand new with every ride. Check them out if you are in the market for a new bike, they pretty much make every one else's frame for them anyway.....
I love my Giant, twice as much as I love my SV and I love that more than my Granny!

Look at me I am a corporate Hoar!

When I was looking at a Road Bike I was recommended to look at Giants, chap in the shop told me good spec and good value for money.

Liz bought a 2nd hand Giant MTB a while back which she absoloutly loves.

You might find something 2nd hand that suits your budget and has a better spec than a new one will.

Not really my area of expertise though..

Just looked at the Hardrock 08 in Edinburgh Bike, it says size 17" and 19" are available at the discounted price, which would be most suitable for someone with an inside leg of 29".

Many thanks,
Paul

I'd say probably the 17" but best way to find out it go and sit on one and see how it feels.

Verna has a 17, and i think she has around a 29" inside leg. Fits her ok, and she does have the mens frame version.

17" for sure.

I've got the same inside leg and ride a medium, which is 17.5", and its fine. Generally for an MTB you want a frame thats smaller so you can throw it around easier.

Thanks guys, the discounted Hardrock has V brakes. Are these sufficient for general dossing around on and off road. My pupose for the bike is pleasure and increased fitness not comps or manic downhills.

Thanks,
Paul
